Robot Hive is a 6-piece Canadian Synthwave/Electronic-Rock band hailing from Regina, Canada. Formed in 2011, the band comprises Dan Besuijen (lead vocals, guitar, synth), Chris Notenboom (vocals, guitar, synth), Matt Kaip (lead guitar), Les Schaeffer (drums, percussion), Elton Roscoe (synths), and Greg Flichel (electronics, visuals). The band's journey began when Chris and Elton met Dan at a local bar and were captivated by his incredible voice. Matt was recruited soon after to play drums, eventually transitioning to lead guitar when Les joined. Greg completed the lineup in 2019, bringing his expertise in electronics and visuals.
Robot Hive draws inspiration from a diverse array of influences, including Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Devo, Tool, and many others. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses hard-hitting grooves and thought-provoking lyrics with captivating visuals, creating a multifaceted experience that encourages fans to both open their minds and move their bodies.
The band's 2019 debut album, "Prophylaxis," earned them significant recognition, securing the position of 2nd runner-up for Album of the Year across all genres at the 2019 SaskMusic Awards. With almost 70,000 streams on Spotify since the beginning of 2024, Robot Hive is rapidly gaining momentum and attracting a growing audience.
